A little to no. Sometimes hiding a firearm will do the trick. I agree a simple lock box (say for 4 rifles) for around $100 would do the trick in a minor way.
However, when I read the OP, theft was not my main concern. At the very least the hand gun can be close to ready for use in a lock box. As for the rifle, at least a cable lock.
Anyone who has children of any age, should do this at a minimum. Then it is one thing to put your children at risk, but you also put children at risk who are visiting.
Just IMO, there is a minimum standard a person should have when children are in your home (regardless of how much they should be trusted).
PS- A door lock is not a safe way to keep a teen out of a room. Entry / privacy locks are easy to defeat (and you would never know).
