    Ruger alaskan .454

My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I told her I would like a ruger alaskan in .454 casull. And that I saw one at the kittery trading post.
Today she told me might have to do a trip to maine on a bussiness trip this week.
Sounds like I might get my wish.

You can't go wrong with the ruger.

I have a super redhawk in 7.5" and love it.

If she is looking at the Alaskan in the used case, I played with it last week, it looks to be in good shape.

Tell her to call riley's in Hookset, NH (603-485-5000, I think...)as they have one too. Im not sure if it was 480Ruger or 454 Casull, but they are generally very competitively priced, especially if they think you can get it elsewhere for less.

I'll be willing to bet that when you shoot that .454 at the range...heads will turn, even with ear protection.

I picked one up a few years ago and its my primary sidearm when in the bush here in AK. What I really like about the .454 is you can also shoot .45colt, much cheaper and fun, for punching paper at the range. When I'm carrying for protection against large furries I like a .300g SWC, they really don't recoil as bad as some would have you believe.....

It will not be a carry piece. It will be a home gun with the .45 colt loads. Along with two 45 acp's
We have been to Alaska 3 times. And we are planning a fishing trip with her godson next summer. It will join us on the triph

When you get, it I'd really be interested in a review if you're up for it.....

I go for the Super Redhawk with 7 1/2 barrel. More barrel to burn that powder and generate energy since you have a real use for it. It does kick hard.
