    A sign of the times

I attended the Tanner Gun Show in Denver yesterday. I arrived around 2:00 pm and quickly heard that there were over 900 Colorado firearm applications/ background checks submitted so far during the day. That seems huge. The system apparently was overwhelmed by the high volume and slowed from a wait of 10 minutes to two hours and even went down for awhile.
The place was packed, the parking lot was jammed, and the CCW class registration people were very busy.
Evidently a real sign of the times. I guess everyone is getting worried about possibly losing the right to bear arms.

I bought a gun at a gun show in Grand Junction CO last month. The purchase was made in the morning and at 4:30PM I was still in the queue of applicants waiting for back ground check completion. I had to return the following day to pick up my gun. Yes, the worry/panic is having its effect on gun and ammo sales. The "kaching, kaching, kaching" of cash registers in gun shops can be heard loudly and clearly.

That should be the theme of the 2010 elections.

If we really want to make it the theme of our 2010 elections it is up to us to promote that.

I hope it does. If so, the inconvenience and extra expense caused by all the panic buying just might be worth it.
