I was recently bequeathed this little 20 gauge shotgun but I've read a few dissenting things about Savage in general.
Does anyone have one? If so what's the deal with Savages?
Is it worth keeping or should I trade it in on an old Browning or Mossie?
I already checked the barrel for a roll of $100 bills. Fail.

My Dad gave my sister a Savage 20ga pump and I had a buddy back home who hunted with a 12 ga Savage pump. I'm not sure about the model number of either of them. From what I know, they go bang and lead comes out of the barrel. They aint pretty or fancy, but they get the job done.
The women in the family and several kids have shot my sister's quite a bit at clays and have never had a problem or malfunction of any kind that I can recall.
As far as Savage Arms goes, I think most Savage guns are just your basic blue collar priced, get the job done without the fancy stuff type guns.
I've had a couple Savages in the past without complaint as to function, and still have one Savage .308 rifle that shoots as accurately as an off the shelf Remington, Winchester, or Weatherby . (3/4" @ 100yds)
You won't find a lot of tacticool accesories for it probably, but as long as you aren't into that kind of stuff, it'll likely serve you well.
