I've been looking at the kits for it. Someone linked me to one that had the mount, scope, manual and 10 stripper clips. I was thinking of ordering it. I heard some people had issues getting the mount on tho, almost to the point where the action couldn't cycle. I'm a little reluctant at this point...

Hey I could always do it the redneck way... nothing a little duck tape couldn't fix just kidding

The SKS is a great battle rifle and has been used by many countries.
The most popular are the Chinese Norinco's the Yugos and the Russians.
Others are Albanian, Romanian, even harder to find are E.German, N.Koreans.
They are ultra reliable when left in the stock configuration. I currently own 8 SKS's and have had as many as 32 at one time. Do your self a favor and do a complete detailed strip and cleaning of your Norinco before shooting it. They are usually filled with cosmoline in the op rod and gas tube areas. Most people don't realise this and then wonder why there semi auto only shoots like a bolt action. plus it will get you very familiar with your new gun. They make a great deer gun and are very accurate out to 300yrds or so.
Enjoy your new Norinco. Go here for a great site to learn and find out anything you need to know about the SKS.

unfortunately, we Keystoners can't use semi autos for hunting, thanks to an archaic law that i wish would change.

I love my SKS Yugo, both with my original stock and with a T6 fusion stock, all bubba'd out with a front grip and the works.. Unfortunately, to make these things "compliant", you have to jump through hoops and ruin the originality of the gun.. So in public, my Yugo goes out all original.. At home on my own shooting range, I like the black version haha..

I actually enjoy my Yugo more than my Ak and shoot better groups with it as well.. If I had to choose which one to grab while running out the door, if they were both leaning against the wall, it really wouldn't matter to me which I grabbed..

The SKS' are the most under rated combat style rifles there are.. Nice find.

You can pick those up pretty much everywhere for about $100. $300 - $400 with an OE scope.

Nice rifle! Will that one take the detachable magazines? Have you tried?

Good luck with your new toy.
IMO, the Russians and the Chinese (Norinco) are probably the most desirable. I don't know much about the other SKS models that seem to have become available recently. I still figure an actual import would be more valuable than a parts built one.

Already got one. I must have forgot to announce it It had a little rust, but a little TLC took care of that... Hmm I could of sworn I made a thread, but I guess not. I had a pre-Obama binge at Christmas time.

And here is a video of me with it.

Not the Norinco SKS... you need an SKS-D I think to take the AK mags.

So, how many shouts out of that Mosin before your shoulder started screaming for mercy?

I think it was about 15. Held the elbow in, had a few layers on... so it wasn't that bad

I wasn't talking about taking the AK magazines. The Russian SKS I had back when would take the detachable SKS mags.
