i guess i was just surprised to see a group of gun-nuts (said both with pride and affection!) embrace a movie that associates guns with evil.

I can't say we embrace a movie, it's just a movie, but what blood and guts movie as you stated, doesn't associate guns with evil? If you have two sides one has to be evil.

there is a difference in a "good vs. evil" type blood and guts movie (dirty harry, etc.) and in a movie such as pulp fiction that glamourizes lawless killing. im not criticizing anyone who may have enjoyed it, im just saying that i didnt for those reasons.

I have a buddy, retired SpecOps that keeps raving about a movie called BOONDOCK SAINTS. Has anybody seen this one? He says that it's sort of a cult hit in the specops community now.....I've got it on DVD, just haven't watched it yet. It's one that I have along with the new one with Nicholas Cage called The Lord of War that looked pretty neat in the trailers.....

    Aliens 2

The evil used teeth and acid for blood, the GG's used some great GUNS! Even the lead character (Sigourney Weaver) asked one of the space marines how to use the gun and the attached grenade launcher....

I respect your opinion, we just don't happen to agree is all. One point though, wasn't it the movie Dirty Harry, that Inspector Callahan used torture to elicit a confession?

What about the TV series "The Sheild" a bad cop is the good guy. I don't watch it personally, but many people do, because it's still on the air.

Oh yeah, there was the serial killer in the football stadium when he shot the punk in the leg and then stomped on the wound to get him to fess up where he'd buried a kidnapped girl. Then the punk went out and paid a pro to beat him near to death so he could blame it on Harry! IIRC, at the end, the punk used a P38 Walther but was stopped by Mr Smith and Mr Wesson and Mr Callahan.
