    Lefty or Righty?

from what I can tell with the dominant eye test, I'm left eye dominant, but I can do the test with right eye just as well, so it makes me blieve i'm cross eye dominant. I've been practicing firearms with the left side mostly now, but with firearms that are made for lefties are rare (safeties being on wrong side etc) I was thinking about switching over to my right side.

has anyone done this, or is this a stupid move?

I honestly can shoot with left and right equally well.

I've practiced quite a lot shooting left handed instead of right. I shoot both equally well also. I'm definitely right eye dominant though. I don't feel at all uncomfortable or akward shooting lefty. If shooting switch is what you want to do, can't hurt to try! Muscle memory will take over in a bit and it won't impair your coordination.

If you can shoot equally well with either hand, the availability of guns designed for RH shooters would make it advantageous to shoot rt handed.

Just get a pistol thats got an ambi safety and have fun. If you mean long gun look at the mossy500 it has an ambi tang safety. I shoot well with both hands and I use a Mossy for that very reason. If you are talking rifle you could go with a lever action ( Marlin or Winchester.), semi (Browning makes real nice stuff) or pump (Remington 7600). Have fun.
It is surely true that you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Nor can you make them grateful for your efforts.

I'm right handed right eye dominant but an injury forced me to shoot left handed and after several years of shooting I'm pretty good but not as good or fast as if I could still shoot with my right

you know...I practice some times weak (left) handed and of course, being right eye dominant, I have to cross over...but that's not a bad deal in any way especially with autos since I tend to tilt mine at about ten degrees, or whatever is natural for this. Granted..most of the world is geared to the majority of right handed people in most instances. I figure with your qualities....you're in the bonus round, and about the best anyone could ever hope to be. You're lucky, but I don't figure you'd ever make a stupid move. "Switching over" contemplates a little of abandonment of what you already know. If I were you, I wouldn't make anything permanent. Practice and train with a right handed firearm, and keep the ambidextrous and cross-eye dominant features you have up to par. Otherwise you'll be loosing something. I'm very ambidextrous with hand tools, but not where I would like to be with the pistols. I always shoot with both eyes opened.
