Anyone ever order from Sportsman Guide?

Just found this posted on THR.

I won't be placing any orders with them for sure. Supposedly they have known about the issue for a few weeks now.

    Anyway here it is:

Let's say I'm a bad guy, and want to know who owns what, and lives near me.

Try this -- pick some zip codes you're familiar with and some common names:

Wow, that's disturbing. I'll not be ordering from them at all. I just searched "Smith" with my zipcode and got plenty of matches. I'm going to shoot them an email explaining how stupid of a system they have.

There's got to be some kind of law their violating regarding the protection of personal information. They'll be lucky if they don't get slapped with a lawsuit.

I was pretty happy with their service and prices; now I am upset; I'll send them an e-mail tomorrow.

he ordered a decent looking knife. to be delivered in 8 days. address, tracking number, name and everything are displayed... thats crazy...

his taste in clothing is a bit... well... common for that area, but not my style... but the knife looks nice :P

Wow!! This is inexcusable! Found 2 customers in my area, one of them has dumped a lot of money ordering from this site in the past 6 months.

It makes sence that they wouldn't be secure because they don't require a Password to order on line. Some catalogs require you to log in with a password and are secure. What bothers me is that this info is available and I ordered by mail, not online. I wonder how many other Mail order catalogs do the same.

What a load of crap. Thank God I haven't ordered much, but that's not the point. I just sent them a blistering message and assured them that I won't be ordering anything until this is corrected. I also advised them that they are likely to see a sharp decrease in sales as this is going around the internet. To the OP - thanks for the heads up!
