    I believe they carry Glock G23's, .40 S&W.

    Edit: It's listed as...

    Issues the 10×21mm (.40 S&W) Glock 22 pistol and 10×21mm (.40 S&W) Glock 23 pistol (agent’s choice), and 10×21mm (.40 S&W) Glock 27 backup pistol from 1998.

    I believe that they us .40 S&W.

    This confirms that supposition:
WikiAnswers - What type of gun do CIA and FBI agents carry

Granted, I'm not a LEO, or an FBI agent and everything on the web is suspect. I think it's .40 S&W though.

Father in law is retired FBI. Left as they were phasing in the .40 after the abortion the 10mm turned out to be. Were having issues with the Glocks but that may have been resolved. I want to say that Sigs were the primary for a while.

Yes, it's the .40 S&W....for the "rank and file" agents. Agents that are on the SWAT team have Springfield Armory 1911 .45 ACPs.

The current .40 S&W duty round is a new iteration of Winchester Ranger Bonded, of which I have a 50-round box (along with a box of their new training rounds) in my ammo chest, courtesy of the lead firearms instructor of one of the Field Divisions.

All agents, at least at the Field Division I worked out of, turned in their SIG 9mm's. One of my partners, then a 14-year veteran, was extremely unhappy having to turn in the gun he's carried for all of those 14 years.

The USSS does carry SIGs in 357. The FBI are issued .40 in Glock.
The USSS and the FBI are 2 separate agencies.

Not even close. USSS is under Dept of Homeland Security and the FBI is under DOJ. Just because they're federal agencies doesn't mean they carry the same firearms. Different missions, different bosses.

It is accurate that most (the vast majority) FBI armed personnel are issued Glocks chambered in .40 S&W and a minority (very few, really) are issued Springfield 1911s chambered in .45acp. However, the FBI still allows for agents to opt for Glocks chambered in 9mm, though rumor has it that they plan on doing away with that option. Their private purchase program has been suspended indefinitely.
