    Gun magazine 1959 edition

    Hi,

Thought you may like to see what people were writing about in this old magazine. Note the prices in adds. 1911s for under $30.00. Article on how young to teach kids to shoot. At this time you could buy guns in the mail, I was 19 at the time. A worthwhile download in my opinion.

    Bob

A great entry on page 6:

Long Beach, Calif.: When a policeman here used the butt of his pistol to subdue a rowdy hooligan, it wasn't quite the end of the story. The judge, hearing the case, ordered the defendant to pay for the damage done to the pistol when it was brought down over his head.

You don't see writing like that any more. Or stories like that.

    I'll be reading more.

Every month they put a new edition online for download. Next month it will be

    then in March

    http://www.gunsmagazine.com/1959/G0359.pdf

    See the pattern?

I've been downloading old Guns Magazines for a couple years now.

This one made me chuckle on a couple of levels.

"Give The Little Lady A Gun" is a story
urging men to take their wives hunting. Maybe
you don't want to take your wife along on
your hunting trips. Some do and some don't
    - which makes it a tough editorial choice.
Yet women can and are sharing fun with
guns, with no detriment to their femininity
and no un-ladylike competition with men.
    . . . Anyway, here it is ; if you don't like
    the idea, don't read it."

Great post. Looking at the guns and prices listed.....makes me want to take a few thousand dollars and jump in a time machine. Just think what all that stuff would be worth today!
