Any Collector Value on This 1911?

Does anyone know if this handgun has any collector value? It's a Colt 70 Series Government Model in satin nickle. It has the black "Colt" grips. The Barrel bushing, slide stop, safety, and grip safety are also black. This gun belongs to my uncle and he has offered to sell it to me for $900.00 I know for a fact it has not had more than 50 rounds through it, and I shot 25 of them. He said this one was pretty rare that they didn't make many of them. They were called something but I can't remember what he said. I might buy it if you guys think its a pretty good deal. So what you guys opinion?

The satin nickel is a more rare finish, there is some collectors appeal in ANY series 70 or early gun as they are drying up. I don't know about $900 though, maybe if he has the box and papers...otherwise I tend to think that $750-$800 would be more of a fair price.

You might want to check gunbroker.com auction site for comparisons. I did a quick search for "Colt Series 70" and found one identical to yours on the first page for $825.00. I didn't search beyond the first page, but I'll bet there are more to be found.

$900.00 is probably not that far out of line. Colts aren't cheap!

Show him the same one on GunBroker for $825. that you can buy from perfect stranger - and then ask him for a family discount.

$725. ~ $750. would be a more fair "family member to family member" price.

$900 is a little high, I tend to agree with QK & JD.
$850 tops, if it has the box and papers.
