G19 worth it's weight in gold?

I was at the gun show in Atlanta, GA today and had a total of 14 people come up to me and wanted to buy my G19. On the 9mm side
    their were G17, G34, XD's, H&K's, SW M&P's, Sig, Ruger SR9, no G19's at all.
You do not think the 9mm is effective? Then let me shoot at you.

as 9mm glocks go the g19 is the best seller. the g19 is hard to beat for a carry gun. the g26 is also hard to beat as a carry gun.

I didn't see any Glock pistols for sale at today's gun show in Ft Smith, AR. Plenty of G22 mags available for $30 a pop though. Not much else.

I have a G23. I enjoy shooting it, but it's too big for carry, IMO.

If I buy another one, it will be the G26 subcompact.

I don't think there were too many at the show last week. The dealer I got mine from said that it was one of two left that he had. One other was at a pawn broker's table(probably used-something about it didn't give me confidence so I didn't ask), and one other dealer who had one on display for $20 more.

    30oz loaded @ $927/oz = $27,810. That's ~55 G19's, more or less.

Still, it's one heck of a pistol. A very competent, reliable, durable little unit. One of the sole surviving "wonder 9's" from the late 1980's.

Our Gun show here in Fayetteville is the weekend of the 7-8 of Feb.

I'll have to let you know the G19 status after I go.

I don't see many G19s anymore, even in Alaska where people favor the big bore pistols. I know I was the only G19 shooter at the concealed carry class I attended. The 19 has a lot to offer, so I would say it is worth its weight in gold.

I ordered a G-19 and a G-23 yesterday from Mike Chasse at Thunder Mountain Custom Rifles in Sierra Vista.

It's like in anything else: the law of supply and demand.

After the election, people bought 19's in a panic. The result is a short supply.

Glock ain't stupid. They want to sell guns. They will eventually catch up with the demand.

I'm not worried. Besides, I already have my 19.

Yeah, but then I also made the "wonder 9" quip, and so it's interesting to note that I've got one of the last three Browning BDM's in existence. At least the "wonder 9" trend won't have been completely in vain. Ha!

Nope, the wonder 9 trend certainly was not in vain. A lot of good pistol and ammo development occured as a result.
My favorite pistol the Sig 228, is an 80's wonder 9, and a wonder it is. I wouldnt trade it for anything. The G19 is also a favorite of mine.

Think of all the good research and development that was done, making a small cartridge a viable self defense "powerhouse". We now have tiny pocket guns chambered in the 9mm, where as without the wonder 9 trend, we would still only have 32 ACP or maybe 380 ACP for pocket sized autos. 9mm ammo has changed a whole lot too. With proper selection, I have no problem with a 9mm vs. a 45. Sure, there are trade offs in performance, but the wonder 9 trend allows us a lot more options.

Had a 17 many moons ago. Excellent platform, and in my mind, the 17 and 19 are the best 9mm out there. My only problem is the round itself. Let's face it, 9mm isn't hailed as a man-stopper. Cheap to shoot, but just not enough OOMPH! .45 ACP, on the other hand........, which is why I went with the 21SF. Smooth, accurate, and very compfy.
