Remove: M4 (you already have AR15) and another 10 more and you'll have a top ten with ten items in the list.

What is the measure of these rifles? Historical significance? Appearance? Accuracy? Durability/Reliability? Cost of use (including mags and ammo)? Recoil management? Hunting/Varmint shooting?

My son paid $1000 for his Sig 556. That's a great gun, I'd take it over some others on your list.

BTW--M4 is not a "semi-auto" rifle. That designation is to the select-fire military/police version of the rifle. The semi-auto version is simply an "M4ged" version of the AR-15.

Good list of weapons, though. Wish I had one of each...

Sounds good. I'm adding the Sig 556 to the list near the top. I'll read more about it. M4 is coming out.

    M-14 is running for $2K
Uzi in good shape over 1.5K
Browning BAR (I am guessing the military version) Good luck finding one much less under $1K. Those suckers are rare and in great demand.

What's your criteria for buying them? Self defense? Collection?
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

Yeah, I wasnt sure about the BAR I was thinking it was a bit low for a BAR... and a Thompson too.

The m14 I've seen at around $1000. Maybe there are replicas? I'm not sure. The Uzi too, I've heard they were under 1k. I had the IMI Galil on there too but I heard that they are over 1k too. I'm not sure on some of these.

I got a Plainfield M1Carbine, almost new for $400. Yes, I've had some mag/ramp problems but think it's been worked out. It's light, small, accurate, can hold a twenty round clip to a five round clip. A great defensive gun, IMHO. Why do I need anything else?

Good luck finding a M1 Garand under 1K also.

Might look into adding the CZ VZ58 to your list.

I have a Tommy I picked up new last July for $800. I just saw the same one at a Gun Show last month for $975. The drum runs them up over a $1000

Here is my M1 Service Grade straight from the box.

Almost new condition, made in 55-57 time frame.

I have carbines my Father got in 1968 for joining the NRA. So I have not bought any of the present offerings from the CMP.

My Son and his friend love shooting the carbines, the Garands are a little tough for them.
