If taken care of properly, it should outlast you.

A friend has over 50,000 rounds through his. He's debating replacing the barrel, but the danged thing is soooo accurate! He did, however, replace the recoil spring. Everything else is factory and performing great!

This handy little guide not only answers your question, but should give you some guidelines as to how often you should replace certain parts or have work done to your 1911. You can go longer on some parts than the suggestions but you may start to see some performance degradation. Reliability, Round Counts, and Longevity in 1911s

A decent 1911 will outlive many owners. Like all things mechanical they do need service now and then, some more than others. I would look for one that offers a lifetime warranty and hope the company is still around when my great grandson passes the gun along to one of his grandchild.

As others have posted, the gun should last a lifetime (or more) with proper care. I will add that, the UCII should have the recoil springs replaced at around 1800 rds. The complete spring assembly is about 45 bux. Good luck with your purchase.

Plan on replacing springs and mags along the way, but the gun itself will still be going strong long after you and I are dust.
