8-32x50mm Famous Maker Scope?
So I don't currently have a scope on any of my long guns... but a buddy of mine has a 8-32x50mm Famous Maker scope (Model # FMT832) with illuminated mil dot reticle and bubble leveler that he's giving me... from what I can tell it's a cheapo chinese scope... You guys think this thing is worth getting an $80 scope mount for my Enfield for? Will it hold up to range use at least? I don't hunt or anything right now so it would just be for fun...

If you get a good scope mount, you can get a good scope later. Why not?

True... free is a very good price... Basically what I'm after is should I expect anything much from this scope? If I were to take up deer hunting (which a buddy has been trying to get me to do for a while)... would this scope be up to it, or should I just strictly plan on this being a range toy and canning it if I ever actually use the rifle?

I have found that cheap scopes won't hold a zero on center fire rifles, the recoil beats em up

Too much scope for deer hunting unless you plan on long distance shooting. A nice nikkon or weaver in a 4 power range is plenty out to 300 yds. Also a 50mm objective is huge when out in the field and tends to get in the way.
Current collection: Too many according to the wife...

Good to know...I've never deer hunted or owned a scope, so this is all new to me.

Your better off getting an inexpensive bushnell scope

The only thing Famous Maker scopes are good for is as a club. Who wants a scope that WILL fail and maybe when you need it most. I would not even trust a gun store that sells this crap.
