    .32 H&R to .327 Magnum

I have a S&W 431PD .32 H&R that I am thinking about having the steel cylinder bored out to accept the longer .327 Federal magnum cartridge. Will the alloy frame take the extra pressure or will I be ruining a fine little revolver and risking serious injury to boot?

Give S&W a call and ask if the gun can be re chambered for the .327 Mag. They should be able to tell you if it is safe to have done.

    Why take the chance ?
I had a rifle barrel ruined by a (otherwise) good gunsmith on a simple rechambering. Murphy always lurks around.
Sell the .32 and buy a .327 if it is what you want.

That is what I will do - is to call S&W first before I start looking for a gunsmith. Looked at the new S&W 632 Carry Comp, a bit too pricey for me and it has 3 inch barrel - not good for pocket carry.

    I'd just buy a nice .357 mag.

Check out this thread, he did a real slick J frame rechamber.

Cool ICTsnub! I think S&W is missing out by not offering more calibers in their J frame lineup.
    God bless our troops!
