Wandering minds are dangerous...
While I'm speculating about silly stuff I really don't need I thought I'd open this up for discussion: I have discovered I enjoy the .44 Magnum cartridge. I can't claim I've shot a terribly large quantity of it (it's pricey) but I'm looking to learn to reload it once things settle down a bit and I have two guns chambered in it and am considering a third down the road.
My handgun platform is a 629-4 and I LOVE that gun. It is fantastic. But I've noticed something, and that is that for some crazy reason I don't exactly fire .44 Magnum at speed. Matter of fact, I tend to fire it single action and even supported sometimes!
So I'm thinking about a single action revolver since that's what I do with it most of the time anyway. But I'm also tempted to get another non S&W (read: Ruger) double action.
My intended purpose is, well, wasting ammunition. I don't really have time or interest in handgun hunting, and there's nothing in Texas that can't be killed with a service caliber if it had to be killed in a hurry.

I find a single action doesn't fit me as well as a double action but i love my vaquero Also in the hard hitters i find for me again that a single action is hard on me than double more wrist torque..
If you go ruger double action go with a Super Redhawk even though you can get the redhawk in 5.5 and SRH 7.5 and 9.5 only ]
The super redhawk is same lockwork as Gp100 lot easier to take down and clean than a redhawk..
i almost never Fire a 44 or 454 double action but the 500 i do shoot double action every-now and then.
Did you see the 50th annverisry Model 29 Smith is coming out ?
Also i guess i'm at the stage of reloading where i don't need barn burners all the time i actually like to down load even the 44mag
Course 454 and 500 don't like to be downloaded

SRH would I am sure please you greatly Euc - in whatever tube length you chose. You have seen pics of mine but - I may not have posted this fella. For slow lazy single shot SA stuff, this baby is good.
As Bud alluded to - not everyone likes the feel, of frame - grip etc but - not bad priced guns and tough as nails.

I think we are ''stuck'' with the bright SS Bud in the .44 mag - but don't mind that too much.
Never remembered they did the grey with SP - that'd be nice. Must have been a short term offering I guess.
