If not one more weapon found it's way to mexico from the states, they would want not as far as weapons go.
There'd be plenty finding their way from the south. Also, I'm sure there'd be an unlimited supply of AK's and other weapons out of Venezuela.

What is the difference between a AK-47 and a AK-74 ?. They look the same ?.
I vote for the Sig 556 DMR, and a single shot .50 BMG (not sure exactly which one)![]()

Now if I had the money two buy two close quarter battle rifles.
I would go with the AK 47 and then buy lots of ammo.
I have been at this game for some years now. I was always in the mind set of " Can't have to many guns" well lets put it this way, you can. I have had as many as fifty to sixty battle rifles at one time.
But lately this last year or so I have drastically reduced my collection.
To where I am down to family airlomes and those guns I absolutely need. I am stock piling ammo as we speak. I want to be able to continue to train and become as proficient with my select few guns as I can possibly be. There is buying madness going on right now and I can understand that. If you don't have a battle rifle you should get one.
I have chosen the three weapons that are the most reliable and easy to replace parts for then any other weapon, these three weapons have never failed me they go bang every time I pull the trigger.
I choose my weapons not for there aesthetic appeal but for there history,
there recommendations from trained professionals that I respect and there common calibers and KISS factor.

Thank You and Your plan sounds good.
If I were to go after two such guns, it would likely be: Springfield SOCOM 16; and SIG 556.

Why add anything to a perfect response? Perhaps an FAL instead of the AR. And I thought we were talking about 'assault rifles'. Did I miss something, or is the Remington 870 and the Benelli M4 suddenly lumped in with this group? Is 'pistol grip' our criteria? If so, there are a few errant responses.
Anyone answer with "A Kriss Auto"? Just the cool factor alone has me wanting one...

AK-47 and an HK91 - because I already have an AR-15 and an FAL, and I don't care for M1As all that much.

The OP said "assault weapons" in his original post and specifically mentioned those that would be covered by a new AWB. The 870 might not be, but the Benelli M4 is an imported semi-auto shotgun with a pistol grip & collapsible stock, holds more rounds than a "sporting" shotgun and is used by the US military. Quite frankly I'm pleasantly surprised the ATF lets them into the country now.
