San Diego Mayor and illegal guns to Mexico

I found it interesting the San Diego mayor stated that 90% of the illegal guns going to Mexico are going there through California. Of course typical reporting, all these guns going into Mexico from the US are "automatic" weapons.

They (media and officials) said the same thing about Texas and Arizona.

After reading a couple of other articles, both about Mexico's complete gun bans, and the fact that every household has one, the quality and type (semi or full auto) is dependent on who you know in the government, and how much money you have. I'd be willing to bet that the weapons coming from the US are ending up in the hands of the average citizen for their own protection against the Drug Cartels militia and gangs.

So in retrospect, their might be some truth in this, you just need the rest of the story.

So wait a minute. If 90% are coming from Texas, and 90% are going through Arizona, and 90% are going through California, What does that leave for New Mexico? And how are all of these 90%s working out? Are the bad guys buying them in Louisiana and driving them through all of these states to cross the border in California? Is that their position or do they just suck at math?

I find this just scare tactics to encourage more gun bans. On the news I saw the cache of weapons that were seized etc and they looked like AK's not AR style weapons.

I would think it would be easier to import/ smuggle weapons into Mexico from other countries than from the US in large numbers.

OK. Now we know why the price of guns has shot up. We're sending them all to Mexico.
