    I have a H&R single shot in S&W 500. Gun weighs about 6.5 pounds(now weighs 11lbs.) and will throw a 465gr lead slug @ around 1800fps w/ 35grns Lil' Gun. Hardest kicking gun I've ever had.

It sounds kinda dinky compared to what most others have posted, but the most painful gun I've shot is the Walther PPK .380. The palm of my hand is in definite pain after just a few shots.

Ummm Yes?.... No way dude!!! just look what we go through.

In Florida you probably just go buy one......
In the UK, I have to have a safe (it always has to stay in the safe unless on the range)
I have to have plod (slang for Police) come and make sure its "all Ok"
I have to have an alarm.
I can only use it on Home Office approved Ranges
I can only buy ammo when I produce my "certificate"
I can only sell it to someone with a Firearms Certificate with the correct calibre on it.
I can only buy and keep about 500rds.

    Anything else??

Oh yeah I had to have a complete background check on me etc (this took around 15 weeks and I have to re-new every 5 years at around $100) oh yeah...They can remove this weapon from the cert if I don't show I have used it enough
Last time I told them to get stuffed, historic weapon etc and if you don't like that... I look forward to my day in court

No don't laugh and say things like "OMG Sooo glad I don't live in England"etc.

All this s*** is awaiting you if No gunobama has his way.

I was suprised to read you have to produce a "FOID" whatever that is to buy ammo in IL...... I have brought ammo in a NH Walmart with no problems at all... No I am not a non res alien.... We were on vacation and it was such a good price I got it for my American Pal who we were staying with.

Well--my normal hunting rifles are .300 Weatherby MK V and Browning A-bolt in .338 Win Mag. But by far the WORST is my .450 Marlin Guide gun. I fired it for the first time about 2 weeks ago. From the bench, I knew it would be bad, but wowser--it was just plain brutal . I put 3 rounds down range and that was ENOUGH for the time.

As I have read thru all these posts, there seems a common thread that many of us find the lever actions in big-bores particular bad--interesting!!!

Now, for you guys that were/are tankers and have fired the 120mm main gun in the M1 family of Main BAttle Tanks--that ain't nothin' Back in the old days, the Army had the M551 Sheridan--a thin-skinned, aluminum armor, air-dropable (well, air-dropable at least once ) tracked Recon vehicle that thought it was a tank. The wire-guided missle system never worked, but the dual purpose gun/launcher system shot a 152 mm main gun round. When you fired the conventional main gun round, the whole track would raise up and lift the first 2 or 3 roadwheels clean up off the ground. They even had crash-bars installed for the crew to hang on to when you fired the main gun.
