Rant - DEA agents can not ID a common weapon.

I was watching the TV series "DEA" last night. They were in Jersey working on busting a crack house, that turned into a drawn out hunt for a pot dealer.

When they finally found the first line importer, and his 20# of pot, they also found a gun. They opened the case and I immediately knew what it was. A Kel Tec Sub 2000. Nicely folded in half in a nice soft shell case.

So what do each and every one of the DEA agents tearing apart the house call it? A MAC 10!

As I am watching the guys fumbling with it, I am saying to myself, "If you don't know what it is or how it works, stop messin' with it!"

Then in their commentary after the bust they were so stoked that they got a "Machine gun" and lots of bullets off the street.

It's easy to see how the drug lords are so successful in getting drugs into the country. I know there's a rigorous screening for DEA agent candidates but it sounds like they're screening for the wrong thing...political correctness comes to mind.

Honestly, I doubt most of the people on this forum could tell the difference between an automatic rifle and a semi-automatic rifle.

The example was a Mac 10 vs a KelTec 2000. The point was, feeding the monster is what it is: complicity, shooting one's mouth off about what isn't known to be true.

It's like the difference between a sheriff's deputy reporting the man shot the intruder, versus saying the man murdered another. Two different worlds, and by golly if one is going to claim the worst then it bloody well better be correct. Granted, this Mac10/KelTec distinction is a bit more subtle, but shooting one's mouth off about "machine guns" when that hasn't been established isn't too different.

It all comes down to one thing. It's what is considered "reality" TV. It's scripted and it's BS and not worth watching. Almost as entertaining as American Idol, which have never watch either.
