NGD - Ruger 10/22
Well I sure did not mean New Guitar Day...but New Gun Day.
Went to the range after work, decided to look at rifles and shotguns at the store in the range, also took a look at some lower caliber pistols as well. I have been looking to get something cheap(er) to shoot at the range than just my .40 XD, and have been looking to pick up a shotgun for home defense purposes as well. Well, the shotguns I preferred the feel of (Mossberg 500, Remington 870) were a little out of my budget for now, so I looked at a couple variants on the ubiquitous Ruger 10/22, and settled on a nice used example with a stainless barrell and black stock. I dunno why, but like a good guitar, something about that particular one just sort of spoke to me. The sweet part is it already came with a 25rd Hot Lips mag, 10rd stock mag, lock, all the original docs, and box, and has the rail for the scope on the top. $30 for a good case and she's doin' well.
Range report, very good, had a few mis-chambers at first, as I learned you need to confirm the hotlips mag is well seated in the chamber well before cocking the slide. After that it was all smooth sailing and found myself with some pretty good groupings right off the bat. Blew the bullseye with the 10/22 and the XD both today, so apparently both my rifle and pistol positioning and posture is getting better.
Now the question for me is....save up for the Sagia 12, or go for a pump action Mossberg 500 or Remington 870.

I think you will be very happy with your 10/22, mine is a tack driver.

Interesting how many players there are on these gun boards who are gun nuts too.
I find G.A.S. goes for both instruments and guns.
I have it and accept it.

There are three long guns that I think should be required in each & every household. And, at one time, every house that I knew-of had them. They are; a Remington 870, a Winchester or Marlin 30-30 lever gun, and a Ruger 10/22. Congrats on your new purchase!
