Does anyone in the Palm Beach - Jupiter area knows what is happening with the "South Florida Shooting Range" ???
For 2 months or so, the web-site says it closed temporarily, the phone rings busy.

From what I am told the new owner, who bought from JR Outfitters, did not get any permits for the new structures he put up.He also did not get zoning approval or a Certificate Of Occupancy for a shooting range.
When told by the Martin county authorities that he could close for 30 days, and then re-open with the proper permits (and they would work with him to help get them)he simply refused.

This is all second or third hand so I invite other people to comment.
All very unfortunate because we can use more ranges where you can have some fresh air and shoot your own ammo and also because the Cowboy shooting club that rented space there has nowhere to shoot.

That is strange; we went there and talked to them, they told us about their plans to improve the facility, which was already very nice.
They seemed like "business people", I can't see them playing "hardball" with the county ???
I got this e-mail from them early February:

Let me first thank you for your patronage and support over
the last year as we worked hard to provide a family oriented
and safe location for enjoying the shooting sports.

We've run into some zoning issues with Martin County and have
been required to close. While we knew there were problems to
resolve, this closing was unexpected and we will be doing
everything we can to reopen in a few weeks.

We are so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you, and we
hope you will be patient with us as we work to reopen.

Here is what you can do now:

    1. Tell your friends we are *temporarily* closed so they don't
make the drive out and are disappointed.
    2. Ask your friends to check our website regularly at
Coming Soon and add themselves to
our email list. We'll post news as we have it.
    3. Support Gun Ranges and Gun Owners everywhere by joining the
    NRA: https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp

We'll send more news as we have it. If you aren't interested in
receiving a few more emails from us, including discounts and
rock-bottom gear deals, you can unsubscribe here:

Thanks again for all your support! We shouldn't be gone too long.

    Warmly,

Last I read they are not going to open again at that location due to zoning. I read they were moving not too far from there to another place that used to be a range.

I heard the same thing. But, third hand so don't really know how reliable the information may be.

It WAS a few miles northwest of Indiantown.
The NEW location mentioned may be out near Okeechobee.

Actually it was originally in Okeechobee, old Thunder cross race track.
Then they moved to Fox Brown road location.
The Range master is a good friend of mine, and he told me he didn't know any thing concrete yet on the new location.
