Hypothetically speaking, I'm out in public and I shoot someone, whether justified or not. What kind of questions should I expect from Law enforcement and a prosecutor??

Lots of questions and none of them aimed at proving your innocence so keep your mouth shut until you speak to a lawyer. Remember you have a right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. (Nothing you say will be used in your defense in a court of law.) So as I said, shut up.

I was in fear of my life. He said he was going to kill me. I believed him. I wish to speak to my attorney. I have nothing further to say.
That's what you say, and that's all you say.![]()

I would give them my name (in nearly all states this is required if the police have a valid reason to ask for identification and a shooting certainly qualifies), give them the gun, tell them that I fired in self-defense (assuming that's true) and tell them that I would be happy to fully cooperate with their investigation AFTER my attorney is present.
First, see this thread in the Reference & "How To" forum:

We have discussed this topic dozens of times.
When you’re wounded and left on Afghanistan’s plains,
And the women come out to cut up what remains,
Just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
And go to your God like a soldier.

You all forgot to add, you will be arrested (do not be surprised by this). You will have your weapon taken for forensics and evidence (you should get this back after cleared of wrong doing, provided it was a good shoot).

Arrested ??? In every case, I don't think so.
Advice I was given was to say as little as possible, see posts above. and asked to be taken to the hospital because you don't feel well, and I am sure you won't have to fake it !!!
After you have been given a sedative, what yousay cannot be used in court.
HOWEVER, I have not verified that information an IANAL and DPOOTV.
The first rule of a gunfight: "Don't be there !"
The second rule: "Bring enough gun"

Very simple, don't talk to the police without an attorney present. It ain't rocket science.
My CCW instructor has said that 99.9% of the time, unless there is no doubt that it was righteous (which is in the DA's hands not LEO's) be prepared to be cuffed and taken in.
That being said, I have accepted that IF I ever get into a gun fight I will be arrested right or wrong. This way I am mentally prepared for the cuffs. JMHO, I'm no Lawyer or LEO.

I'd rather be cuffed than gurneyed...
If you used common sense, made the correct split-second decision, have a good attorney, live in a state with a Castle Doctrine, have a few extra buck floating around...you MAY be OK.![]()
"That I cannot do."
"Give this to, uh, Clemenza. I want reliable people, people who aren't going to be carried away. After all we're not murderers in spite of what this undertaker thinks."
