    fair trade?

Hopefully this is the right place for this question, 1st post.

I have a SIG 220, prob. 1st generation, no light rail etc. in very good cond. Someone else has a Para Ordinance LDA 14.45 in blue, very good condition, that I could trade for even. Is this a fair trade for me? Is a Para Ordinance good as a SIG? I don't own a 1911 style pistol anymore but want one bad, and don't really want two .45's, so don't want to just buy one, but who knows. Thanks for any advice.

I would say that if you are wanting a 1911 style pistol badly, then it would be a good trade or "fair" as you put it. Actually, you might be coming out the better depending. Just my opinion. I love my P220, and it's not going anywhere for anything.
Welcome to the forum by the way.

Thanks RamRod. I too love the 220, great shooter but it see's little range time. I have found it to be an excellent handgun, great quality. I had (several years ago) a colt gold cup MK3 I believe(wish I had that one now, hindsight hu?) and now find myself wanting another 1911 style.

Keep the Sig or sell it outright to buy a better 1911.

OK, now were getting somewhere, this is what I'm looking for...so the P.O. is not as good of piece as the sig? excellent, thanks for the advice.

Oh just incase, I ask because because I really don't know that much about semi-auto's as far as quality goes, I'm more of a revolver type.

Certified pre-owned P220 Sigs go for around $650-$750....what sort of 1911 would you be looking to get into?

The names I hear the most are Kimber, Springfield, Taurus, and Para and thats about it for me, I really know nothing about any of these except Taurus which I have a revolver by.

You don't want to trade a SIG for a Taurus.

I believe he is thinking of trading for a Para 14.45. Linky: Para-Ordnance, High-Quality Handguns: 1999 Gunny Award

I don't know much about either gun, can you test fire the Para before you make the trade? Not sure about the money, but assuming the costs are close a "fair" trade is when each trader ends up with a weapon that they like better or will use more often. IMO at least.

Let me put it this way, my Sig P220 was purchased for 330 dollars used.
The reason for that extremely low price even used was because it has some....ok a lot of rust on the internals and external. After buying it and a day of cleaning to date I have not had a single malfunction caused by the weapon, only a few problems with some Promags that wore out, that since have been sold and no problems since. Para Ordinance, has a decent rep, not the kinda of rep of a Sig for SD.

OK I think that clears things up for me, thanks everyone. I know that my Sig is unstoppable from what I've experienced with it, very accurate, very reliable. I definitely would not trade anything I own for Taurus, not to knock Taurus, I own two revolvers by them. I know revolvers pretty well, how to buy them, and what brands/ models I like, but not auto's, so thanks for your input.

Keep the p220....its as formidable a .45 as any out there. Plus the Para blue is complete crap from what i have seen.
