My father lost his ONLY handgun some months ago in Jamaica and those losers in government only made it harder to get another one (gun laws there are very very harsh)... he left it in the glove compartment.
When I leave the SIG in the car, I keep it well hidden under or between news papers and an old towel... this is how I also conceal a few other guns at home in places such as the bathroom, I keep it between a towel.

A hard lesson to learn, and I'm sorry to hear about it. Hope you get the weapons back.
A small, lockable gun safe (I use one) bolted to the floor or chained to seat mounts is an absolute MUST for unattended vehicle storage. They run about $30.
