I want a training .22/BUG got some options
Ok, for awhile now I havent been able to find ammo to practice with, other then .22. I would also like to use this as a BUG.
So Ive come up with few options.
First is a NAA .22 revolver in the 22lr/22mag cylinder for 319 bucks
Second is a Taurus 941 revolver in either .22lr, or 22mag. Price 350-450 bucks.
Third is the oddball, a Sig P220 .22lr conversion for about 330 bucks.
I primarly carry a sig, either P220, or P226.
So Im wondering what are peoples thoughts on these options. Its going to be one of these three, but right now Im just looking at all the differances and would like other peoples opinions.
I know not what this "overkill" means.
Honing the knives, Cleaning the longguns, Stocking up ammo.

Out of your choices I would go for the Sig P220
I always carry two guns daily.

I like the idea of the Sig conversion, but read up about the different types of conversions. My understanding is that there are two types, and there's quite a difference. Plastic parts in one and not the other.

I would train with the closest thing you can get to your primary. I EDC 642 or 637, I train/"fun shoot" with a 317 (lower gun). The 317 is set up with same grips as EDC and front sight painted chrome yellow, just like EDC. Conversion kit sounds like best bet. Recoil will be different, but trigger pull and all the rest of the drill will stay same. For several reasons, .22 LR is bad bet for BUG. Concentrate on "trainer" role for .22 LR.

Considering the fact I carry everything from a Sig P220, Bersa.380, to a Model 60 revolver; I dont think the training with similar is a problem. As to .22 as a bug, its a bug. That means its secondary. Its the step above spitting at them. So I dont see a problem with a .22 as a BUG.
