The number of firearms is from NICS checks. It does not reflect multiple sales on a single 4473, and doesn't count firearms bought by folks with a carry permit. Even without these sales, it is enough firearms to pretty well cover the active forces of both India and China every two months.

I think we need to make aware, and encourage the purchase of permits and firearms in this country to arm according to those numbers...monthly...we can do it!

I'm a happy participant of this statistic. On my shift alone I know of 5+ new CWP applicants with 2 more comming down the road soon. Fifty percent are new gun owners.

The headline with the guns purchased totals is above the video screen. It reads:
The term "entire Chinese and Indian Army" needs to be clarified. The article doesn't do it, so let's take a look. I figure that the article means standing army not the number of reserve, etc. The total for the entire Chinese standing military is about 2,255,000 and the entire Indian standing military is about 1,325,000. This includes naval and air forces, so we need to narrow it to the army only. The Chinese standing army numbers about 1,700,000 and the Indian standing army numbers about 1,130,000 for a combined total of about 2,830,000.
USA Buys Enough Guns in 3 Months to Outfit the Entire Chinese and Indian Army
Law abiding US citizens bought on average 3,177,256 guns every 3 months in 2008.
According to the article there were "on average 3,177,356 guns bought every 3 months in 2008." So indeed that number could provide one gun for every member of the Chinese and Indian standing army of 2,830,000 with enough left over to provide one for every member of Egypt's standing army of 340,000.

Now if we can just get all those buyers to register and vote we can turn things back around
The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.
