Some civilian? What business is it of his for this officer to be discussing your business(or police business) with this person. When I am transporting or carrying any of my weapons, that is my business, not the business of John Q. Public. I'd be equally cheesed off about that, as I would Officer Not-So-Friendly's ignorance of the law and attitude.

Sounds like a violation of your 4A. I would have kept my mouth shut the second he made me get out of the car, and clearly stated that I do not consent to a search, and that I am transporting the guns legally (to and from the range etc...). Especially since you have your FFL. That is it. Otherwise I would have been quiet and or asked if I am free to go.

I'd go after them in court for violating your rights as a citizen.

sounds like a case of I'm a cop and your not, if you were truly breaking the law you would be in jail now. Just like in mass the LEO will harass you for a while and send you on your way. federal law allows you to transport thru any state so long as it is unloaded and locked up and ammo is in a separate from the guns.

Get a Lawyer and FIGHT IT NOW! There are so many things wrong with this I don't know where to begin. You need to get that LEO OUT of his blues and in a pair of white and black stripes.

Both the minivan comment and the ticket comment leave much to wonder *** was going on in that cops head.
He ended up giving me a ticket for impeding traffic
That ticket at the end is a real kicker. I'd have a lawyer fight him on that one for harassment to boot! How can he ticket you for impeding traffic when HE'S THE ONE THAT MADE YOU PULL OVER and for something he couldn't justify to top it(hence why he let you go)? Seems like you found MI's bad apple. There's bound to be one in every bunch.

In violation of concealed-carry laws, despite not carrying anything on your person, concealed or otherwise? He's smoking crack. You're bending over, for the moment. But you'll prevail, in the end, IMO.

Let your lawyer do your talking...spend a few $$$ and you'll easily make it back +...the important point is you will be educating an entire PD.

Stay armed...education can be very important...stay safe!

Ken, definately give Ron C. a call. He does come highly recommended and specializes in cases involving firearms.
The more I think about this the angrier I get.

I'm not looking up the exact verbiage, but that's the gist of it.

Hmmm, cameras are cheap these days, and there's several for watching behind a van or Winnebago while backing up. I wonder how expensive and how much trouble it would be to stick a recorder on the feed? Trip the recorder when the flashers come on.

That first officer sounds like a rooky from California.
