We got my son a Crickett .22 rifle for his 6th birthday last March. Yesterday was the first time we were able to take him out to let him shoot it. Fortunately the weather cooperated long enough for him to get some rounds through it.

He actually did pretty good with his shooting. I bought him some swinging .22 targets and to my surprise he was hitting them a about 15 yds or so. I guess he was hitting them 15 to 20 % of the time which is fine for his first day out. We worked on safety and keeping his finger off the trigger ect. Unfortunately the weather started to turn bad, and I had to leave him and the wife shoot while I made sure stuff was ready to go if we had to head out really quickly.

He was very excited and asked if we could go out next weekend and shoot some more. I hated to tell him no because we have a camping trip planned. Looking at the pictures I snapped when he first started shooting, I know I need to work on getting him into a better shooting possition and better cheek and eye placement. Yes we did overlook the shooting glasses at the beginning. Let the whipping begin.

BTW, I was really surprised at how good the little Crickett shot right out of the box. It was sighted in and functioned without a hitch.

Just remember that shot placement is much more important with what you carry than how big a bang you get with each trigger pull.

This is how we are going to defeat the "gun-grabbers" who try to influence kids at school.
