    Help price a rifle?

I'm thinking about selling my rifle for something else. I have no idea what I can fetch for it, so any help would be appreciated!

    Rem. 700 XCR .270WSM
    Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10x44
    Leupold Rings and mounts
Glass bedding of the action and a little in front of the receiver
    Re-crowned muzzle

Appx. 120 rounds, taken very good care of, 100% condition.
There are matching marks on the scope from remounting, nothing ugly though.

Several groups (3 shot) have been at or under .5", 90% of the rest under 1", and some bad groups, probably my fault.

So... what are we talkin' here?

I would usually go to some site like gunsamerica.com and find something similar to see what they are selling for. Package deals (scope and rifle) are more difficult to judge. You might even want to sell them separate.

If it was a standard 270, I could give some suggestions, but the WSM, well I don't know what the demand is for that cal.

I see a lot of 223 short mags. for sale in the shops, but they are not selling.

Spring is not the best time to try and sell a hunting rifle. Late summer or early fall should be better.

There are at least 8 Remington 700 XCRs in .270WSM listed for sale right now on GunBroker.com, price range $650 to $975, without optics.

I'm no expert but I would start at about $1400 or $1500. Not sure what your bottom price should be. Depends on how bad you need the money. Why are you selling it?

DR, I want a m700 5-R Milspec in 300wm!! Everything I've read says it is a sub-halfer with SAAMI loads out of the box, and I can get a sweet discount on one.

I don't know if I can fetch that much for it though, as I only paid 880 for the rifle and 567 for the scope (though the MSRP of both is probably more).

Do y'all think posting a certified target with it on a consignment shelf might help speed up the process?

That'd M700 would make a heck of a sniper rifle!!!!

I bet you could get close to MSRP on that rifle. Maybe minus a couple hundred. I'd set my price up a little and then let people talk me down some. I dunno about a consignment shelf. I've never done that. Maybe someone else here can weigh in on that.

I'd say whatever they're going for on Gunbroker for new, minus $100-200 - for the scope, the new price minus 20%.

Let me get this straight. You are selling a proven Rem 700 that shoots great so you can buy another Rem 700 in a similar (magnum) caliber that may or may not shoot great?

Pretty much Timmy. Here's the thing... I'm unhappy with the stock (it is a total POS), so my alternative is to drop 300 on an HS Precision stock for it. I can get a discount on some merchandise, and think I may be able to get away with the 5r in 300 (comes with the stock I want, and I wanted a bigger caliber for the elk anyways) AND a nightforce NXS, and possibly lose less money on the deal than just buying the stock for the XCR. Make sense?

Yep I get it now, it just doesn't fit. Just for the record though the 270WSM is a more than capable elk cartridge.

Too bad I'm left handed or I might make you an offer on the old rifle. :)
