Some funny sheep thoughts on owning an AK

I was in a class today when for some reason the topic around me turned to guns. My close friends all know I own two long guns, a WASR and an 870. Most other friends of mine dont know this however, and Seattle is not the most gun friendly place in the country. We started talking about owning an AK, and while I never said I actually owned one I was defending my thoughts on owning one. In about 10 minutes here are some of the things my very misinformed fellow :sheep: classmates "knew". I couldn't stop myself from laughing at points.

You need a gun permit to own a gun in the US.
You need a "machine gun" license to own an AK.
You need a $1000 permit for each "assault rifle" you own.
It is illegal to buy AKs at gun stores, but legal at gun shows.
All AKs are full auto.
AKs are only good for shooting up schools. :hand1:

Thankfully I was able to correct some of my classmates ahem.. knowledge on the subject of firearms ownership. Two of them asked me to take them shooting :smile:

I guess they'll be disappointed when you go to a shooting range, rather than shooting up a school.

It is really amazing how many people only know what they know from TV sources.

Most people are convinced that full autos are illegal, only the MOB uses totally silent suppressors to kill people, that a sawed off shotgun is deadly out to a half mile,that the .50 BMG can take out an airliner a mile high and that all guns are registered.

Most of them have no clue about the truth.
Its really pitiful,yet some will continue to argue about what they don't know.

Nice work. Some of the looks my friends and I get from classmates when we're talking about guns are priceless!

But I was actually reading a gun article on the computer the other day and a girl came up to me and started talking about how much she loved going shooting. Had a nice long discussion. Turns our she lives just a few miles away from my town and she'd like to go shooting sometime. :image035:

The quintessential everyday average citizen anti-gunners arn't really anti-gunners at all!

They just don't know the law or the facts, and once all is properly explained you will get a *very* surprising request!

"Will you take me to the range sometime?"

Take 'em shooting, the next thing you know they'll be pro 2A

A few thousand rounds of .22, some soda cans, and PPE. Sounds like the formula to turn the uninformed into Pro Righters.

Absolutely correct. Spot on.

Well yes, to buy the original AKM full auto assualt rifle you'd need to jump through some hoops and have a background check but for an AK clone that is semi-auto and works in the same mannor a Remington 30-06 semiauto Woodsmanster 7200 you are spot on!
