Actually the San Diego Police Dept are issued Sig 229 9mm. But they can buy and use their own if on a list. I saw another news report on this earlier today stating that he saw several people trying to break into cars and gave chase. That's when his gun "popped" out and discharged. Still trying to find more info.

I figure he might have grabbed for the pistol once he realized it was coming out of the holster. Possibly he had already unsnapped the thumb break? Just muscle tissue damage? Tell me that don't hurt.

3. He was carrying the gun in his hand while running and had an ND during the chase and made up a story to deflect any trouble from himself for not following Department policy.
