Would you buy a 10mm handgun today? Why or why not?

GREAT cartridge...Sure I'd buy one, as a home defense gun or a woods gun.

Great cartridge and there are some excellent handgun choices.

I hear it's a great stopper, but all else being equal, I'd opt for a .45 ACP. That is if I wanted anything bigger in a carry Pistol than my .40 S&W.

A friend had an early Colt Delta Elite. It was a neat toy. If I were to get one I would be looking at a GGI 10mm Sig P220. Unfortunately they are a little beyond my budget right now.

    Good caliber.

If you shoot much, reload. If you reload, the costs are the same as any other caliber (except .22, of course).

I think the 10mm is a better man stopper than say the .45 but...
I still would rather go for a .45

    It's been around a long time...I don't see the .45 going
    anywhere soon.

I might buy a Glock 20SF for woods carry eventually.

I would love to add a 10mm handgun to my collection. Once in a while it's nice to have a variety to carry.

Not interested in a 10mm...I have enough invested in 9mm and .45 ammo.

Been looking at some used Delta Elites in local stores lately. Just another flavor IMHO but what a flavor. Maybe my next purchase, maybe not, but probably someday. Not to start a fight, but I sold my 40 cal because I liked the 357 SIG cartridge better in that particular line (Glock). I really like the 1911 platform and that is why the Delta Elite is looking so interesting. If Glock had a 10mm in their compact/midsize frame, I'd be looking at that also.

I have a 10mm and a 45 Cal, when i shoot my 10mm (double tap ammo) at the range, heads turn (BOOM). I love the 10mm because you don't see them coming and going.

9mm, 40's, 45's, are everywhere, the 10mm is a conversation piece... lol. I love my G29, and my G36 (45 Cal ) is part of American history, i use both for optional carry.

I’ll take the other side of the fence.

I believe in having only a couple pistols that you carry. Sure I own a bunch of pistols and like to take them to the range, to play with, but my primary carry pistol is the one I shoot drills with.

Reason is you should practice with drawing firing drills with your carry pistol at least once a month.

If you want to carry a full size pistol then a 10mm is a fine weapon of choice, but to buy one to have and carry once in a while, without practicing with monthly is a mistake.

Regardless if recoil bothers you or not, the biggest problem I see with a 10mm is unless, you’re of pretty good size the recoil is going to be too much for you to be able to deliver multi rounds on target quickly.

Yes I would. Reasons: my glock 20 is lonely as my only 10mm, S&W has a 10mm revolver, Glock has the model 29, carrying my model 20 and reloads while hunting in the woods with a bow/arrow or rifle, treestand, etc. ... gets tiring.

I would really love to have a pistol caliber carbine chambered in 10mm, I also would love to have a single stack striker fired 10mm, a la glock.
