I guess that I am just a little more anal than some. I keep a book on each firearm. Each book contains date, number of rounds fired, location (i.e. gun range), any problems encountered (usually none), and then the date that I clean the firearm.

Always a good idea if and when you need to use it and it gets confiscated, you have the info that may be required.

My CHL instructor was an investigator for 25+ years and these were based upon some of the queations that he asked when he was investigating a citizen shooting.

But, all in all, it still makes good sense to me.
