Can anyone name a good .454 Casull Revolver?

I would say the Ruger super Redhawk, Ruger builds some heavy duty revolvers.

CASULL!!! The original is still a work of art. Probably the finest fitted revolver I have ever seen, owned and shot. Buy a PAST shooting glove as you'll definately know when the round goes off.

They are expensive, but you'll get every dime outta it if that you spent IF you are dumb like me and sell it.

The Ruger as far as quality to value ratio IMO. The Freedom Arms stuff is also very nice...and on the lower end Taurus makes one.

I might be wrong, but I thought I remember reading something about the Taurus being pretty close to the S&W as far as the design. I know S&W owned Taurus for a few years.

Ruger Alaskan in 454 Casull. A tank and something you can carry into the field fairly easily.

Of course Freedom Arms, as mentioned, is top of the line.

I'd buy Ruger and Freedom Arms both are good.If you plan on shooting this
round you better be a reloader.I chickened out buying the Ruger Alaskan when
I was reading some gun rag that causuall rounds were 87 cents a piece and this was before everything went crazy! Not to say,I won't pick it up another
time but probably in a black hawk version as it makes more sense to me than a 2 inch snub nose.

If you want a single action, there is nothing that compares to the fit and finish of Freedom Arms. you can barely get a business card between the cylinder and frame. I would recommend the "field grade" version with the matte finish and pachmeyr grips. The grips on the "Premier Grade" sure do look nice, but in my opinion are too small and are very slippery so when you shoot the beast you end up getting smacked in the knuckle by the trigger guard.

If you want a Double Action you are pretty limited to the Ruger which I haven't owned therefore I can't help you.

Actually S&W never owned Taurus. They were both owned by the same parent company at one time. The following is from the Taurus website:

I was looking at a Ruger Alaskan today. Very solid and not as heavy as I thought. If I had $940 I would have brought ot home. It shoots the .45LC as well.

If you are using the 454 to hunt with go for a long barrel. If I were using it for protection while hiking I would go for the alaskan. It's very expensive to shoot and the brass may be hard to find. you can always shoot 45 long colt for practice.
