Yada yada yada. From what I can tell, they (who ever "they" is) are referring to normal, every day, run of the mill handguns and rifles. Nothing spectacular about them. Just stuff any law abiding citizen can get legally at any gun store.The illegal handgun used by an ex-con in a firefight...
We are going to get these illegal guns off the street...
Would someone please define for me what an illegal gun is. I am just so confused.

Well for starters, any gun, bought, sold, stolen, whatever...with the serial numbers filed off...that would be highly illegal in anyone's hands.

Not illegal in most states. Even states that requires registration it is legal as long as you go through the requirements to register it.Buying one out of the trunk of a car too.

Here in the 5 boros of NYC having possion of a handgun without a license is illegal. Having a handgun that is not listed on your permit is an illegal gun.

I would think the only illegal handgun is one whose serial numbers have been deliberately defaced and/or removed.
Of course, it could be those pesky handguns who travel into this country without going through the proper immigration channels...
