    Smith and Wesson or Glock?

Which would you rather own Smith and Wesson or Glock? The police dept in my county switched from Smith and Wesson 40's to Glock 40's. I've been considering getting a glock after i shot my buddy's police issued Glock 40. It seemed to shoot so smooth and the recoil wasn't as bad as it was on my SW40VE. When i become a poilce officer in jan 2010 it will be Glock from then on. I was just curious on what the people of this site had to say about it. Pros and cons about Smith and Wesson and pros and cons about Glock please...

Wow, I think you are opening up a can of worms. There are Glock people, then there's everybody else!

A Glock is a well made utilitarian firearm. It's not pretty, but it does get the job done. Some don't like the looks, but I prefer a gun that will shoot pretty much every time all the time when I need it. If I want pretty I'll spend more and by a gun that will live in a safe. If I want a gun that I'll use all the time and depend on, I'll get a Glock.

Be prepared for a myriad of opinions.

Like i said when i shot the glock i feel like it shot a little better than my smith and wesson 40, i will be the first to admit that i would buy a glock. Not trying to open a can of worms, just wanted some outside advice on how other people felt about each gun.

I have two M&Ps and a G19. Kinda like a beautiful women, they are both great and you want to spend equal time with them.

    I have a M&P9C and a G26 and your right about them
while the M&P9C is more the more seductive of the two
the G26 gets a lot of carry time.

Glock. More widspread parts/accessories availability and a better, longer track record of reliability.

Why should you care what other people think about them? If you're considering these two, and you shoot the Glock better, that's really what matters, isn't it?

Now, now, now. I'm sure people said the same thing when the first Glock hit our shores. Time will tell if the M&Ps will have the following and reputation of the Glock family.

He's comparing the Glock to a Sigma, not an M&P.

    M&P all the way.

It just fits better in my hand.

The Detroit Police have just ordered 5,000 M&Ps to replace the Glocks they use now.
