    New old target pistol

Ever since I bought a S&W Model 98G air pistol I have wanted a Model 41, which it is based upon, well at the gun show this weekend I got one for a decent price. New and still in the original blue box with the original accessories sealed in the bag, it must have been made in the 1970ís since the instruction sheet is only one page folded in half. I will take it to my gunsmith for a good cleaning due to the old oil being the consistency of glue, took a good hard rap to separate the barrel from the frame to field strip. Canít wait to take it to the range for a test drive.

Sweet! Those "classics" are fun to shoot. It's a good conversation starter at the range. Nice buy!

    Incredibly accurate firearm.
My absolute favorite target .22 ever - with the sweetest trigger.
Just my humble openguin. I have 2 of them now.
Had 3 at one time and 2 extra top ends. - one scoped.
Way back I also had right about 25 extra mags. Nice ones w/ the metal followers.
I bought all the S&W Model 41 mags they had back when Firearms Unlimited went belly-up.
I've since sold off all but 10 or so.
You will absolutely love the 41.

Finally got to the range Sunday, Itís a keeper, took two boxes of cheap federal 22s and completely removed the X ring. Canít wait to see what it will do with some quality or better yet some target ammo.

I love my Model 41. Paid $400 US for mine second hand.

I find the best ammo to use is CCI Subsonic Hollowpoint. Ive tried all sorts with mixed results.

Winchester and Federal is by far the worst .22 ammo to run through these, misfires, failure to extract you name it.

Remington cyclone works a treat but its supersonic and to hot for the target tension recoil spring, not good to use for long periods and will wear the gun out.

With CCI at bench rest I can put down 1 inch groups at 25 yards, but this gun is capable of far less, apprently on the frame the dashed number at the end of the serial number is the grade \ accuracy of the barrel stamped on after testing these range from 1 to 5. 1 being most accurate. Thats what I heard anyway.

Thank you for the ammo info, now I know what to feed it, I do have a box of RWS target ammo but have not tried it yet. Paid just a bit more for mine $725 NIB, I think it was made in the 1970's since the instruction sheet is only one page folded in half, looked on S&W's website at the manual for a new 36 pages, first nine pages are just warnings and cautions with nothing on the gun, my how times have changed.
