    Got guns?

Yesterday we had to clean up a dead guys apartment. He had no family and left all his worldy possesions to his Dalmatian. He left a letter with his neighbor and also the director of the rescue group stating this. Well cleaning up we found 9mm and 22LR ammunition. And that usually means "where there's bullets there's weapons". Well being the sharp minded individual I am (for and old guy) I immediately sent my wife to the couch. Not for time out but to search for and old mans pistol in the cushions. No luck! Well the ladies looked and found it encased under the dogs bed. Ruger P89. To make a long story short I searched the closets for the long gun and found it. Mossberg bolt action 22 S-L-R "New Haven" with a small scope on it. Plus an old pump bb gun of unknown origin. I haven't priced these out yet but are they worth anything? Would Gunbroker.com be able or should I look elsewhere?

Ask the dog. He owns 'em.

I'd check Blue Book Of Gun Values, GunBroker for recent sales.

Maybe the Ruger P89 belongs to the dog, it was under his bed! He might want to keep the others for sentimental reasons.

I would think that a dog would like one of the newer changeable grip firearms, like an M&P. I think that an M&P would just feel better in the paw. Maybe it's just me. :)

He's dead with no family and left everything to a dog. What do you want to happen to the guns. For the state to take and destroy them? I say more power to them if they can use the guns or sell them. Just don't tell the stupid dog.

Everything technically belongs to the dog who is awarded to the rescue group. The dog is to be taken care of by the rescue group and the money raised from this man's belongings will be used for that purpose. The dog is sick and has "cushings disease" and will need a lot of treatment. I was trying to figure out what the cost of these and a lot of the items he had. Old records (yes vinyl), tons of older CD music, music books, the guns, and who knows what else was hiding in that apartment. He was an old "hippie" and didn't trust anyone except the rescue group to take care of his dog after he passed away. It was his dying wish. I guess I forgot to tell you too that I am a board member for the rescue group. (Bunny will appreciate what we are doing).

Hear hear! Excellent job, guys! Thanks for doing rescue :) (We just raised over 7 grand this weekend for a sick dog in ours as well!)
Don't frisk me, I am the weapon.

Believe it or not, the BB gun.... depending upon what it is, may be worth more than the other two... don't under-estimate it could have a lot of value depending upon what it is, when made, etc.

Take the other 2 to at least 2 gun stores and get their estimates. Some will sell them for you on consignment (for a fee or % of the sales value).

Glad to hear he's trying to take care of his dog, even after his death.

Now I see the big picture, how much do you want for the Ruger:):):):)
