International Shipping

My daughter's BF has dual citizenship with Brazil and United States of America. (Why I don't know but I don't agree with dual citizenships) Anyway, he asked about shipping a handgun back to the US from Brazil. I don't know if that's even possible except through a FFL. My thoughts on the whole situation are: 1) why do that when you can buy easier and American right here at home 2)How much in import taxes and restrictions if any will there be 3) what kind of BATFE people will show up if the weapon is shipped plus many more unanswered questions. He is law abiding (in a youthful kind of way) and going through the local police academy. He does listen to my opinion about a lot of subjects so he is willing to heed my advice. We actually have some good discussions especially about guns and laws. :congrats:

I would imagine the shipping would be more of a hassle than it is worth. As to why he might want to buy there and ship back there could be several reasons. Cost of the gun could be cheaper there, or the model he wants may not be available here in the states.

You need to contact BATF and try to get an import permit.
