    Another hypothetical scenario ...

You are traveling in Eastern PA, while you stop for dinner, your car and luggage are gone. After the police report, you get a cab go to Wal-mart, grab a few necessities and go to the closest motel.
Next morning, you get a call, the cops found your car and bags arrested the BG. You came come and pick your stuff at the PD in Trenton New-Jersey; in one of the bags is your Glock with 2 mags of hollow points.

    What can you do ???

For those who will say " I never leave the gun in the car" let's just say you have a couple of boxes of Gold Dot in your luggage; IIRC possession of HP ammo is a felony in PRNJ ...

    Interesting problem...Mmmmm...

Have an attorney pick up my stolen items?
A lot less expensive than having an attorney representing me after I pick up my stolen items.

(I'm assuming that my bags have been searched (even though they were locked).

The attorney is not above the law; he would probably decline.

    Hire a US marshal ???

Maybe I am dead wrong on this, but I would HOPE the NJ Police would be able to check and see it was stolen in a state that gives a crap about one's rights, I mean where it is legal to posses a firearm and simply let you head back to PA.

I mean, you can't control where a criminal goes after he snags your stuff, so how can you be liable for it being in NJ?

Interesting question. Since the original crime took place in PA, have the car and all baggage, including guns returned to PA?

Just illegal to carry in NJ? If I'm readying this right..

What would be wrong with explaining it to the LEO before picking it up? I'm sure with the way it is layed out the LEO would know how to handle it?? Isn't like you was carrying it, just traveling in PA??? You didn't take it in NJ?

Just do not carry it until you leave NJ.

Contrary to popular belief, HP ammo is not illegal in NJ. It is just illegal to carry it as SD ammo. HP ammo is perfectly legal to own and use at the range, and I think for hunting, you just can not use it for SD.

    That is really funny.

Its almost as bad as you were taken hostage in Ohio and you have a CC but could not get to it, forced to drive to IL. The cops stop you and BG. BG gets off because he came from broken home, You goto prison for 25 yrs for CC in a state that does not allow it.

If the NJ police discovered the ammo in your luggage, I would assume they have a way to deal with this. If not, tell them about the ammo and ask them to dispose of it for you.

The question is moot. The guns would have been sold on the street within hours and the car would be in 300 pieces at Vito's Chop Shop.

You won't have to "ask", it will be done, probably at your expense. Be quiet, and be happy if they relaese your pistol to you.
