    Tell your friend to get a pro-gun wife?

    I'd go with the gun safe, myself. No sense breaking it down in some parking lot, losing springs, or risking a problem while clearing or reloading.
    Guns don't kill people.
    Gaping wounds in vital organs do.

    Center of Mass Safes are quite good. Other than that I normally just take the top half of my gun, and the magazine when I go places I cannot carry.
    Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men.

    I live in SC also and I am sure not asking everyone whose house I go in if I can carry.If they find out and object I will leave and not come back unless I can carry.If you feel you don't trust me with a gun then I don't want to be around you anyway.

    on my ruger its the frame

    I would have to say the part of the gun that has the serial # is considered to be the gun. I can always go out and buy another barrel or slide if stolen but I can't get just a frame.

    Glad NC does not have that law. That would totally let everyone you ever visit know you carry. But I can't even begin to think of one friend of mine who would tell me I couldn't bring one in their home.

    I would say the firearm is any part of the gun that is required for it function and fire.

    Frame contains trigger = gun
    Slide = gun
    barrel = gun
    magazine = gun

    The only thing really that isnt required to fire the gun is the grips and sights.

    Maybe, but again, the only part that is controlled by the ATF is the receiver (or frame).
