NO! It means you have to teach them not to run with scissors just like you learned, it's your parents who now get to run with scissors.

This has been my experience, and I was wondering the same thing...

A 50 year old Meilink safe cannot be locked from the inside. A child could not close the door from the inside. The door must be fully closed to release the device that prevents the bolts from being extended. A handle on the outside must be rotated 45 degrees to extend the bolts, then the combination dial must be spun at least three turns to extend the lockbolt that prevents the door opening.

I would be hard-pressed to close and lock the door from the inside, and I'm a locksmith with the know-how and tools to do it.

This one doesn't add up, 1) above comments, most cannot be locked from the inside, 2) someone at home didn't have the combination ?????

Just wait, there will be a recall of all safes to install those emergency handles that you see in new car trunks.

See... this is exactly why you should have your gun safe packed full of guns like mine.... so no child could possibly fit in there.

Oh! I've got to show this to the wife before our great-granddaughter comes to visit us later this summer. There is still some room in the safe to accomodate a few more guns. Sure don't want to leave enough room for her to get locked in while she is here.

    You, Sir, are a genius.

Wonder where all the GUNS were if they were not in the safe?

Not knowing the model and not having the knowledge as to what modifications or work has been done to this container over the years, I would be hesitant to make that statement.

I don't recall that the locksmith on site (the one they called was over 35 miles away as I remember) had much info to disperse either, I can check with him though.
