I wouldn't want to loose money on it, but unless you just want something else in the safe, I would get something Id use more and shoot better.

+1 it sounds to me as if you have tried enough, if it does not work for you it just does not work.......good luckThis should be a no brainer, if the gun isn't doing what you want it to do, or you can't do what you want to do with the gun, but can do both with another make/model...

Technically I didnt pay cash for it, I design and manage a gun store website and firearm auction website and the owner pays me in guns and accessories ( how cool is that :) ).
So about 45 hours work at $50 an hour = 1 Para Ordnance. + ive had use of it for about 2 years.
If I can get a Glock 34 and $200 beer money on the side then I think it works out as a good deal.
Added bonus is I dont have to keep swapping my 1911 holster and Glock holster around when I goto the range.

Opinion you say? IMO, just get a G17, and a 3.5# connector, and all the hi-cap mags you can muster for competition.Selling 1911 for a G34 (Opinions)
Yeah I thought about the G17 but thats a bit to close in size to my G19, the G34 has a slightly longer sight picture, adjustable sights, extended mag and slide release. the 3.5# connector and also comes with 4 X 17 Round Mags, for about the same price as a G17.Opinion you say? My G19 Came with a 17 round mag as well so ive got 5 in total.
Now if I could convince my partner to sell her PT99, and get a G17 then that would be a nice Glock 9mm Collection :)

Thanks for taking the time to explain about your country. It sounds like a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to stay.
Since your use is limited to recreation, the only thing that seems to matter is how much fun a particular gun is to shoot.
Yes and no, sure it has to be fun to shoot, but alot of things that make a good defensive weapon also come in handy for competition.

I do just fine with all my plastic pistols and my Kimber 3 inch. but I have a different philosophy then most. that is, be proficient at whatever is in your hand. Whats weird to me is, I seem to shoot larger caliburs, no matter what the grip angle or type of gun, better then smaller ones.
Anyway, I say try a G34 out first, and another 1911 if you can, before making the jump.
First off, an LDA is NOT a 1911. What you have is a double stack 9mm that looks like a 1911. Now, based on what I know of the two guns, go ahead and sell the Para for the Glock (and I don't even like Glocks).
Yeah im finding it pretty hard to sell actually, ive got a crazy low price on it $1200NZ and no bites on it yet,ive even thrown in a holster.
For reference heres some pistol prices here
P226 $2200
Walther P99 $1900
Para LDA Tac 5 $1800
Glock 34 $1200
Beretta 92FS $1200
Glock 17 $1000
Taurus PT99 $950
I think the LDA trigger is fine, seems to work well for Todd Jarret :) he wins alot of competitions, if the LDA trigger was truely that bad you could give someone a S&W Sigma and pay them $1 million a year and expect them to win IPSC events (it aint gonna happen).
Some guys in our club run Para's as well.
I hope there is a buyer out there to take mine off me :)

Sold the Para on the weekend, got a good price as well. G34 arriving in September, even had some beer money left over + enough to get some Houge handall grips + Sunset Grip Plug.
The Para certainly accurate for the buyer, sandbag rest at 50 yards and he got 4-5" groups.
I also got some good groups that day with the G19, 5 shot 1/2" group at 15 yards with fixed stock sights.
Gotta love the Glock :)
