Hopefully some of you from MI know the answer to this. I know that if I go to a gun dealer to buy a long rifle or shotgun they do a FBI background check. If I were to sell or buy a long rifle or shotgun from a private person do I just buy the gun or do I have to go threw some other process? Thanks
To the best of my knowledge no checks are required on private sales of long guns. Even handguns can be sold without any paperwork on private sales as far as the FED's go. Not sure about state requirements on handguns in MI.
Private party handguns are subject to purchase permit or CPL exemption. Registration is required.
