One of the other propeller heads in my shop is our s.m.e. on ASA's.
I am skeptical of a "do it all whiz bang" box. I think a firewall is a firewall, a VPN concentrator is a VPN concentrator and leave it at that.
When you roll multiple functions into one box something else suffers along the way. But that is Cisco System's latest marketing tactic; all in one solutions. Integrated service routers are a good example of that.
They p**s me off alot, all in one solutions for your network perimeter but Nexus line (10gb) stuff only supports layer 2 to the edge but I digress...
It's 2am on labor day and some guy on a gun website got me all tuned up about work.
Thanks a lot pal.
Seriously, I think you will be pleased with what the ASA will provide for your organization.

I took over the IT where I work about 2 months ago, and the new firewall was the 1st thing I started pushing for. The old one was a 9 year old Cisco that was last updated 5 years ago.
I went with the SSM mod because I'm trying to get away from 200 copies of anti virus running on work stations. Right now I'm running AGV 8.5 and I hate it. It slows down everything. Trend Mirco is who is running the Mod.
I'll let you know how it works out.
Sorry about getting you thinking about work.......
