Well this one ain't on the list and might cause some to go accckkkk!!

AMT Hardballer- With a whole lot of parts changed out. About the only things left factoiry original besides the slide and frame are the grip and thumb safeties and the trigger.
Even before the parts changes started I never had any serious issues with it and that's been several thousands of rds ago.

ok well i try not to dis other peoples choices , but for me the 1911 is the only gun made and i don't have to dress her up like a hooker on saturday night .

i currently own a s.a. 1911a1 mil spec parkerized black with black factory grips, bought 6 years ago . also my rifle is a marlin camp carbine 45 , uses 1911 mags and shoots acp . so i only buy one ammo, by the case.

as for those old "colts" or gubment 45's , hell i remember it was them that gave 45's(1911's) a bad name , wore out junk you couldn't hit nothing with them .
now i see people want them huh, and how 20,000 bucks . lol

    ok ok nuff rant'n , untill i joined up here i didn't even realize i wasn't alone.
i had a nickel plated 70's series mark IV with a pretty set of grips , wore out but she was kinda like my first love ,let her go though . damn impetious youth!
sorry waxing vanely there for a sec .

any way mr browning knew what he was doing huh!

I have always gotten a kick out of that myth.

;) true or not i can say i never was swayed .

i did actually own a colt 357mag once ,traded a bike for it . i got the short end of the deal , trading for it and selling it . i've shot a few other pistols , the only one i admired was a s&w 357 K frame stainless , mainly admired my bro's ability with it . after awhile you just couldn't find any more pop bottles at the dump .

With regards to GI 1911's and 1911A1's.

They may have all been built to the same standards at one time but after that they all sure didn't get the same care over the years.

War and even training for it is tough on soldiers and gear alike.

And if the 1911 is suppposedly so bad why is it being brought back and used in some parts of the US Military?

The 1911 I would want the most would have to be a Colt, but for right now my favorite is my Kimber. However I would love to get my hands on a 1911 made by Singer.

Singer produced the M1911A1 in 1941 and only 500 at that, serial number range, S800001 to S800500.

I wish everyone would send me their worn out junk, or any worn out Colt for that matter, I would be happy to pay for shipping, and maybe even throw in a few bucks.

    Ummm YUP

Well I seem to have gotten a pic of my last two specialty loads. Anybody care to guess their "special properties?" The pics of Betsy my 1911 seem to be too large. ~That's ALWAYS the case with REAL MEN and their toys...always too big....~

My current favorite is my Kimber. I have had the opportunity to handle a Wilson Combat though and I will get one, works like a hot knife through butter. I also want a RIA to try out, loose, not as tight as a Kimber or WC but maybe a good thing in the real world for CCW, have to buy/try one.

Aw heck, I'll need to agree, almost any 1911, almost.

Well I just myself my first 1911A1C this will be my first 1911 and .45acp (does .455 Webely count?)

This a brand new Norinco, gone over by a very competent gunsmith who checks it for issues and fit, cost delivered $549 taxes and shipping, can’t complain at all. The only thing I dislike about it is the front sight which is quite small, that I will fix later, just bought 2 guns and ammo, so the bank account is dry for a bit!

Got some 230gr bullets for it and will take it out in the next couple of weeks to shoot it (the gunsmith has shot it and said it shoots well). Trying my from the holster draw, I see that I have to pay attention to my grip to ensure that the grip safety is fully depressed.

I also have a set of Hogue finger groove grips for it, but I am going to try the stock ones first, but suspect that I will put them on in bit as I like them on my CZ clone.

So I will see if I jump on the 1911 bandwagon, should be fun anyways.
