That's really cool. It's definitely true that history repeats itself in regards to hiding those firearms and the idea and political climate behind it at the time.

I doubt anyone just forgot they were there. Owner possibly died (in battle?). Seems like the Revolution would be a time to get your arms out, not hide them. Maybe they were used in the war, then put away for another time, or supplanted when more modern arms came along.
