In the part of Maryland where I hunted I could only use my Mossberg 500 with the trophy slugster rifled barrel. I went once in West Virginia where I used a borrowed model 70 in .30-06. When I get a chance here in Texas it will most likely be my Savage 110FP in .308.

I just dig out Grandpa's old Enfield and my trusty old Mosin-Nagant...both old, but both take down deer and elk.
One of these days I'll spend the money on a nice deer rifle.

Remmington Model Four, 30-06 with 3by9 scope. I have a lot of wide open spaces where 100yds is a close shot. My old sporterized 30-06 was a tack driver but got really HEAVY at the end of the day.

Haven't hunted in years, but if I were to go I'd have my Ruger M77 in 30.06 with me.

OK I started this thread because I was excited about my day at the range with my Browning (300WSM A-Bolt). She has always shot great. Today she was.....well you decide:

I don't normally post brag shots but what the heck! This is with HUNTING loads. 180gr fail safes over 65.5 grains of IMR 4831.
For the record that is a nickle, not a quarter.

Q: How do you leave a gun like that in the safe?
    A: You don't!

Can you guys tell I'm pumped up for first day (Monday)?

My deer rifle is a Ruger M77 in .308 Win. topped with a 3x9xx50 Leupold scope. I bought this one used about 33 years ago for 160 bucks.

I just bought my son a Savage M16 Stainless with synthetic stock in .308 Win topped with a 3x9x40 Nikon ProStaff scope. He's 13 and just killed his first deer about a week ago with his new rifle.
